Activist, author and researcher Frida Berrigan, Senior Program Associate of the Arms and Security Initiative at the New America Foundation will be in Maine April 25-29th, and available for interviews.
Frida Berrigan will be speaking as the Keynote Speaker at Peace Action Maine’s 17th Annual Peace Supper, at Woodfords Congregational Church, Saturday April 26th , 5:00-8:00 PM. ” It is a special honor to bring Frida Berrigan to Maine,” stated Daniel Muller, Executive Director of Peace Action Maine. “Her prescient writing, her vision and willingness to address the critical issues of our time, namely disarmament and nuclear proliferation, and her ability to take research and apply it into action, speak to the urgency of our times and the necessity to do something about it.”
Ms. Berrigan is a columnist for Foreign Policy in Focus and a contributing editor of In These Times magazine. She is the author of reports on arms trade and human rights, U.S. nuclear weapons policy, and the domestic politics of U.S. missile defense and space weapons policies. She has been a featured expert on national and regional radio outlets, and served on the Board of Directors of United for Peace and Justice and The War Resisters League.
In a recent article, Ms Berrigan wrote, “For many Americans, nuclear weapons bring up old memories and forgotten associations—the duck and cover drills of the 1950s, President Reagan’s exhortations against the “evil empire,” and the plot lines of countless straight-to-video political thrillers.
