The Joseph McKeen Center for the Common Good at Bowdoin College is pleased to announce that the 12th Annual Common Good Day will take place on Saturday, September 25, 2010. Over the past eleven years, Common Good Day has served as an opportunity for Bowdoin College students, faculty, staff, and alumni to join with community members to learn about local organizations through service. This event has consistently served not only as a way to get important work done for individual non-profit organizations, but also to introduce students to the community in which they live.

A Christian theologian, author of four books and numerous essays on nonviolence and Catholic theology, he and his wife Shelley founded the Ground Zero Center for Nonviolence near the Bangor, Wash., Trident submarine base and, subsequently, Mary’s House for homeless and indigent people with long-term health care needs in Birmingham.
