Portland, ME—The art exhibit “Maybe He’s a Metaphor” will open at the Meg Perry Center (644 Congress St, Portland) at 5pm on May 2, 2008. “Maybe He’s a Metaphor” celebrates the life and art of Adam Sanders (4/24/88-12/30/07), a young activist who worked closely with Peace Action Maine, Physicians for Social Responsibility, The League of Young Voters and Equality Maine. The exhibit features Sanders’ poetry, oil paintings, photography and pastel as well as artwork created in his memory by family and friends. It will be on display throughout the month of May.
Much of the poetry and artwork showcased in the exhibit will be published in an upcoming anthology. Proceeds from the anthology will benefit the Adam Sanders Scholarship Fund for Young Activists, which honors young Mainers who apply creativity and joy to their efforts for social justice.
