Debbie Atwood Says Farewell to Peace Action Maine

After three and a half years as office manager, associate director and co-director, Debbie Atwood is leaving PAM. Following are some remembrances from those who worked with her and from Debbie herself.

I have had the privilege of working in the office with Debbie for the past couple of years. Her energy and enthusiasm is incredible. We have been blessed with her dedication to PAM’s mission and ability to keep the organization and the office well tuned and humming. Debbie has been the organizing might behind PAM’s biggest events, and has created greater visibility and encouraged new volunteers to participate. PAM is a more effective organization because of Debbie’s incredible work.

I have learned so much from Deb —not only concrete things like computer and organizational skills, but bigger issues like taking risks to follow your dreams, not worrying about things being perfect. She showed me how much more you can get done that way and most of it turns out alright. Deb, I’m going to miss you.

Peace Action Maine will miss the energy, know-how and caring of our good friend Debbie Atwood. What an asset it’s been to have her working with us for the past three and a half years! She’s the definition of competent, reliable and savvy on issues great and small. And oh, the data base! Thank you so much, Deb, for all you’ve given Peace Action Maine. We wish you well!

—Rosalie Paul

This time I’ve spent working at Peace Action Maine, getting to know Maine’s peace and justice community, has been pivotal to my personal growth. I’m an activist by nature, but felt unfocused until becoming involved with PAM. As the great teachers have said through the ages, there is no peace without justice, so work for justice. Remember that we all are one and everything thing we do matters in the grand scheme. Thank you, Peace Action Maine.
