That’s what Governor Baldacci and the Maine Legislature are about to do. For you. In 2005 the Maine Legislature voted overwhelmingly to reject RealID. In 2007 the Legislature put that resolution into statute. Now the Governor wants to reverse direction and give it all up for Homeland Security. Your personal data and the sovereignty of the State of Maine.

RealID turns your state driver’s license into a national ID card. As in “Papers Please!”

If you think that’s a good idea, call your State Senator and Representative. If you think that’s a bad idea, call your State Senator and Representative.

Leave a message with their name, your name, your phone number and tell them to “Vote No on LD2309”.

The legislative session is about to end. Unless you can find time to go to the State House, you can’t do more than leave a message. Leave a message every day between now and the end of session. Call them every day. Get your friends, sisters, parents and co-workers to call.

If you can get to Augusta before session ends, join us there telling legislators to “Vote No” on LD2309.
