Dear members and friends of Peace Action Maine,
We need to tell you, sadly, that our dear friend, Tina Malcolmson, former board member/treasurer/co-chair of PAM and retired professor of English at Bates College, died alone, suddenly, from an accident on or about the 11th of July, at her home in Portland. She and I had just had lunch from a food truck on the Eastern Prom two or three days before, in the sun reminiscing about past events in Maine's peace community, and looking forward to the future. Accounts some of us close to her have heard suggest that she was carrying a box of books down the stairs to her basement. There she fell, and likely died quickly, from an injury to her head.
For several years Tina was among the strongest forces in PAM for the vibrancy and stability of the organization. (Full statement read and available here: at 5 min into the program.
She will be greatly missed.

A virtual memorial is scheduled for August 30, 2020 at 3 PM EST. The link & zoom information is HERE as well as the contact for how to become part of the memorial.
We’re resending the Zoom link (see below) for the memorial gathering for Tina Malcolmson  (Sunday, August 30) so that everyone can find it easily.  The event begins at 3:00, but you can arrive early if you’d like to: we will be playing a recording of the third movement of Beethoven’s String Quartet in A minor op.132 no.15 as a prelude to the gathering.  This is a piece that Tina heard and loved in a performance last February by the DaPonte String Quartet at Colby College. This prelude section will begin shortly after 2:40.   All best,Liz Muther and Stan ScottCo-hostsTopic: Memorial for Tina MalcolmsonTime: Aug 30, 2020 03:00 PM Eastern Time (US and Canada)  2:00 PM Central Time Join Zoom Meeting https://bowdoin.zoom.us/j/94198401810 Meeting ID: 941 9840 1810
