The attention this week nationally has been on Syria. Here's the bill text and vote on H J Res 77  "Opposing the decision to end certain United States efforts to prevent Turkish military operations against Syrian Kurdish forces in Northeast Syria.". The bill passed 354-60 with all Democrats who voted voting for the bill and only 60 Republicans voting no. The bill has an uncertain future in the Senate. Senators will be looking at ways of sanctioning Turkey as well as other things. Peace Action can look for ways to promote peaceful solutions but for the time being there's no legislation that we specifically support or oppose. It's worth noting that an early version of H J Res 77 contained language about continuing US military engagement by the US and that language came out.
