Doug Rawlings was drafted in 1969 and sent to Viet Nam as a member of the 7/15th artillery. His experiences in the military turned him into a lifelong peace advocate trying to put words into action through teaching and through participating in groups such as Veterans For Peace. Rawlings believes that veterans' voices have a special resonance in the peace movement that can help us all save the planet from the destructive forces of rampant militarism. He also believes that the arts provide us with a powerful vehicle to move our message forward, cutting across generational, racial, and gender-based divides. And, finally, he believes that educators, religious leaders, and political appointees have a special obligation to keep the dialogue about war and its lifelong consequences before the American public.
Will Hopkins has just finished fourteen years as Executive Director of NH Peace Action and is taking a moment to catch his breath. In 2004 and 2005 Will spent a year as a US Army infantryman which included the fall 2004 Fallujah offensive, his experiences led him to devote himself to building a more peaceful future.
