Peter Morgan's acknowledgement: "Having come from 'away' in retirement in 2015. I'm pleased to have found a niche. I have appreciated the welcome from the community and happy to have worked with so many for our positive impact."
Peace Action Maine
Peace Worker Award 2023
Peter S. Morgan
In recognition for the Peace he envisions and his logistical talents to make it happen- within Maine and beyond.
Upon his retirement in 2015 (a member of Veterans for Peace and Atlanta WAND) he has stood with Portland's Women in Black since then. Some of his recent work- Peter played a pivotal role in helping the Golden Rule extend its loop to Bath, he did much of the detailing work/ outreach to relatives and family member of Captain Albert Bigelow, the first Captain of the Golden Rule, of making contact with members of the following next gen Golden Rule. He plays a substantial role in maintaining the Nuclear Ban Banner Caravan since the TPNW ratification. He threaded gun safety issues into the peace community and has been connecting the dots between militarism and environmental issues-not just drawing attention to military emissions through the VFP CCMP, but attention given to the environmental impact of military toxins, humanitarian impacts of nuclear weapons-of the nuclear weapon stream, and the banks/institutional funding of militarism.
Peter's graphic Hiroshima: A War Crime (displayed on the street corner of Congress Square Park) is what drew a graduate MECA college student to us for a conversation and would lead towards her lifeway to the Hiroshima/Nagasaki International Peace Conference this year, 2023.
PAM's call: #ClimateForPeace #PeaceForClimate. in 2024, we look for a "Not So Silent Spring!"
